Step 1
Shortstop attacks
Shortstop moves through the ball while second base is covered for the force.
- SS: Charge through the ball and keep your feet moving.
- 2B: Get to second base early and show your glove.
- 1B: Set your feet on first and prepare for a quick throw.
- P: Angle behind first in case the return throw gets away.
Step 2
Force at second
The feed goes to second first because the lead runner matters most.
- SS: Flip or throw to the bag with a short, quick release.
- 2B: Catch the feed on the bag and clear your feet toward first.
- CF: Move in behind second in case the transfer gets away.
Step 3
Finish at first
Second base completes the turn while the pitcher protects the bag from overthrows.
- 2B: Throw across your body only if you are balanced.
- 1B: Stretch to the throw and keep one foot on the bag.
- P: Stay behind first until the out is recorded or the ball gets away.
